Description: 8 – Week Raja Yoga Immersion Course – Level One

Raja Yoga is the full 8-limbed path of the classic yoga written in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, approximately 2200 years ago.

Steve Davis is a Registered Yoga Teacher with 30+ years experience, and a Licensed Massage Therapist with 4+ years experience.

His yoga classes integrate elements from the following disciplines, gained from many years of experience:

Tai Chi Chuan
Dance
Theatre
Music
High Climbing
Over 30 years in business as a business owner

These disciplines require high awareness, focus, and balance, forged into a high state of being.

By devoted practice to Raja Yoga, you will achieve and maintain Supreme Wellness, Power of Performance, High Intelligence, High Awareness, High Energy, Pure Love, leading to Total Freedom and Emancipation.

Progress will be apparent from the very first day.

Here is a partial description of one of the Immersions:

Content and Benefits: Immersion in the full 8-limbed path of Raja Yoga. Focus will be on developing a home practice routine, working with chakra energy, grounding, higher awareness, asana sequencing to develop balance, power, peace, purpose, strong healthy body, mind, spirit. Study of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.

In addition to the class once per week, we have homework assignments each week which must be completed. And, we have a private online forum where students can ask questions, communicate with each other and the instructor, download homework assignments and other documents, and continue the immersion experience every week for the full eight weeks. This is all provided at no charge, included in the course!

Certificates of Completion will be issued upon successful completion of the 8 – week course.

Raja Yoga is also called Royal Yoga, or Astanga (8 – limbed) Yoga.

When: Class starts Thursday, June 24, 2010, 8am to 9:30am, and continues every Thursday through August 12, 2010.

The overhead for each class is $140. Divided by 10 = $14, 9 = $16, 8 = $17.50, 7 = $20, 6 = $23, 5 = $28, 4 = $35, 3 = $46.67, 2 = $70, 1 = $140. Minimum deposit: $112.00.

Immersions are limited to 10 students maximum, no drop-ins allowed. Sign up now to get your place in class. You can pay online here. Space availability, Instructor approval, and payment is necessary to hold your place in class.

Guidelines for the practice of Asanas.

No food two to three hours before asana practice. No liquids 15 minutes before asana practice (but hydrate thoroughly with pure water before class. It’s OK to drink water during class if you must. This is for your comfort during yoga class.

Yoga mat or blanket is helpful but not necessary, depending on the surface.   I don’t use props because I want to be free to do yoga anywhere. For the gym classes, please bring a yoga mat and blanket.
